"These are my words, true and clear...
The words I live by and hold most dear...
These are my words profane and whole...
These are my words spilled from the soul..."

-Vanessa Renee

2 AM...

"What do I do when I can’t sleep? When I sit here in contemplation?
There is more to do than complain and weep, of this sad lack of conversation,
My friends are gone; my family is in slumber,
And there are still those who are cold, and in hunger,
Just because I can’t sleep, doesn’t mean the world is going to be put on hold,
If anything, while I close my eyes, something mystic will turn wate
r into gold,
Because the best things happens when our eyes are closed,
When our eyes are closed, is when our conscious plays with us the most,
It plays with us so epiphanies can creep inside us like an incandescent ghost,
Instead of writing senseless rhymes,
I could really make use of these times…
I just want to let sleep work its magic on me,
Then I can dream of my perfect world so vividly,
So god dammit can I just go to sleep
Or am I asking for something a little too deep?"

Because the Voice of Fear Cried

You were the light of the sun through the window of hope,
You were the condoling winds of my only beach to cope,

Taking no notice of the blessings in front of your very eyes,
"Because disappointment stems from expectation," the voice of fear cries,

I actually I didn’t know it then, but I now have come to know,
That the price of the ticket is never worth the show,

The cost of the speeding game is never worth the rush,
The clamor of the chaos is never worth the hush,

The late night hours are never worth the pay,
The affluence of tangibility is never worth the day,

The precision of an artist is never worth the painting,
The racial upbringings of us all is never worth the hating,

The controversial debates are never worth the victory,
The efforts to benefit mankind are never worth the history,

The fragile development of a rose is never worth the sight,
& The majestic endeavor of the sun is never worth the light,

But more than anything I can name, one truth will always remain,
The gaze I thought I had for you, was never worth the pain,
And to think you were a bit worth me is really, quite a shame.

This MAN

His eyes are so intriguing,
His smile so deceiving,
The words he speaks,
Are never weak,
He’s charming and endearing,
He never falls, he never slips, he tricks me to believing,
His sick sweet lies, they never die,
He’s always there, he never hides,
Not even when I’m dreaming,

Take Me There

Take me to a place where there’s an abundance of people,
Take me to a place where all is, or isn’t equal,

I want to soak in humanity’s essence,
I want to destroy all of the cultural fences,

I want to look into the eyes of those evil and pure,
And experience those things that make me unsure,

Of myself, you, and everybody,
Because of the hate, the tears, and the melancholy,

I want to dive into the flow of energy,
Indulge in the company, Of all the people in the world who differ from me,

Investigate the trails of humankind,
Replay humanity’s past within my mind, curious to see what I might find,

Link religions who judge each other yet believe in the same good will,
Discover the moments that made many hearts stand still,

Like what happened in September 2001, the grey skies were no longer blue,
And all unnecessary wars between countries, cultures, religions, and even me and you,

I want to know why inhabitants of the same world, brothers and sisters torture and torment,
And why in so many countries; tolerance, liberty and freedom remain so dormant,

I want to go into the world with an open mind,
Opening my heart to some kind of sign,

As to why on earth we judge, ridicule and hate,
And yet, in the twenty first century, why we still discriminate?

I want to learn from our past but not correct our mistakes,
Because History’s mistakes have created all our underlying fates,

I want to conversate with a politician, and meditate with a Buddhist,
Have tea with a Geisha, and interview a nudist,

Explore the network of energy that flows throughout all living things,
Commemorate the past & bravely stare into the future and what it may bring,

I want to dance with a shamen, and learn from a Polynesian medicine man,
I want to reason with a communist, and join others hand in hand,

I’m not out to change the world… Not just yet,
But to simply explore, exhilarate, and understand it.

I know I’m dreaming, believing, and reaching for a lot right now,
But is it too much to ask for a world of art, love, & peace somehow?

No matter how contradictory my desires hold no entity,
I don’t think it’s too much to ask for adventure, tolerance, and serenity,

I don’t think it’s irrational to fall in love with as many things possible,
To love and respect, not judge and correct is seemingly, quite plausible,

I’m a dreamer and a speaker,
An aesthetically captivated weeper,

The world, is my playground and I’m just a toddler,
The way my curiosity never makes sound is a mindbottler

Because my passions scream loud, and through me, so much that I can’t contain it,
Can you hear that roaring cloud, so truly, if suppressed I’d be so mistaken,

I know I can’t be the only one, who wishes to wake up to a world without devastation,
I feel your desires; I know your heart tires longing for peace, not manifestation of contemplation & deprivation….

We all want to live in a perfect world, so harmoniously in tune,
And you're definitely not alone, cuz I'm dreaming of it too,
But have faith when I say, you never know... It could be coming soon.
